becomes a weekly "Celebration of Books and Reading" A OSTIA
will be held on 20 and 21 November this year the third edition of "Festival of books and reading" in Ostia, in the parish of St. Monica.
Thousands of books donated by publishers and by many ordinary citizens, are made available to the public for donation to a fundraiser set to some realities of local volunteers. The initiative is carried out three times a year by the Cultural Association "Clemente Riva - Onlus”.
Durante la Festa sono previsti anche incontri con gli autori, presentazioni di libri, testimonianze ed esperienze dei lettori, più un Premio di poesia inedita destinato ai bambini e agli adolescenti. Sostenitori dell’iniziativa sono gli editori Ancora, Anton, Avagliano, Fermento, Gremese, Linee Infinite, Piemme, Publidea95, San Paolo, Zanichelli.

The initiative aims to combine the values \u200b\u200bof culture with those of solidarity, giving special incentives to the reading and circulation of books, seen as instruments of human and social development, as well as cultural development. The funds raised are for the benefit of Caritas St. Monica Parish, of the "Second Line Mission," the coordination "Ostia for Africa and the Centre for Life in Ostia. The festival, sponsored by the journalist Gianni Maritati and supported by the parish priest, prefect of Santa Monica, Mgr. John Falbo, has already seen the unfolding of two successful editions. The first was held March 13, 2010, the second on June 5 and 6: total were collected almost three thousand euro. In addition to books, the Festival offers magazines, comic books, movie DVDs, music CDs, educational games.
The event uses a press office, curated by Ilaria Salzano (ilaria.salzano hotmail.it @), and a group of volunteers, including: Monica Baldacchino, Cinzia Baldini, Silvana Ciancaleoni, Stephen Hood, Letizia De Rosa, Marco Di Addezio, Michele Gentile, Germana Linguerri, Roger Pianigiani, Patrizia Rizzello, Patrick Ruscio, Joanna Scatena.
Other local supporters of the festival are: Press Point di Ostia (which has developed and donated the logo of the event), the issuer TV Channel 10 and Ecorad, the library "Elsa Morante" and show "Reading the Landing" in Ostia, the more virtual library "Omniabookshop," the magazine "The Scirocco, the literary prize" Nana - New writers for Europe "basketball and the sports club" Alpha Omega "of Ostia.
